1. Introduction
SanNova POS is an offline-first point-of-sale application for managing sales, inventory, products, customers, suppliers, purchases, receipts, and related retail operations.
Core business data is stored and processed locally on your device. SanNova POS does not operate a cloud backend that receives your sales, inventory, customer, supplier, purchase, receipt, product, shop, local account credential, report, or backup data.
Some optional features interact with your device, nearby hardware, other applications, or external services. The Google ML Kit barcode-scanning component may also send limited technical information to Google, as explained below.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
Depending on the features you use, SanNova POS may store the following information locally:
- Shop information and receipt settings
- Owner and cashier profiles
- Local authentication and recovery information
- Products, categories, SKUs, and barcodes
- Product and category images
- Inventory levels and adjustment history
- Customer and supplier records
- Purchase records
- Sales, held sales, and receipt records
- Printer profiles and identifiers for paired printers
- Application preferences
- Backup files and exported receipts that you create
This information supports the application's business-management features and remains under your control.
3. Local-First Storage and Processing
SanNova POS stores its core business records in a local database and stores application-managed media on the device. Normal sales, inventory, customer, supplier, purchase, reporting, receipt, and account functions do not automatically upload those records to the developer or to a SanNova cloud service.
4. Local Accounts and Authentication
Owner and cashier accounts are created and managed locally. SanNova POS does not require a cloud account, email registration, or phone-number verification.
Local account records may include usernames, display names, roles, status, authentication settings, and recovery information. Passwords and recovery codes are stored as salted hashes rather than plain text.
If you enable biometric authentication, your device's operating system performs the biometric check. SanNova POS does not receive or store your fingerprint, face image, or biometric template.
5. Camera, Barcode Scanning, and Google ML Kit
SanNova POS uses the camera for barcode scanning when you choose that feature. Barcode recognition is performed on the device. Camera frames and decoded barcode values are not automatically uploaded to SanNova or to Google as part of barcode processing.
The barcode-scanning component uses Google ML Kit. Google states that ML Kit may automatically collect limited technical information such as device and application information, per-installation identifiers, performance and latency information, feature usage information, and diagnostic or error information. Google uses this information for diagnostics, usage analysis, service maintenance and improvement, and abuse prevention. Google states that the information is encrypted in transit.
This technical information does not include the SanNova POS business database and is not used by SanNova POS to create advertising profiles.
For more information, see:
6. Product and Category Images
When you choose to capture or select a product or category image, SanNova POS processes that image locally. Processing may include orientation correction, resizing, and JPEG encoding so that the image can be stored and displayed efficiently.
SanNova POS does not automatically upload these images. The application does not request or deliberately use full image metadata. However, it does not guarantee that every metadata field is removed from every source image or generated file.
Images may be included in a backup when you choose to create one.
7. Bluetooth Receipt Printing on Android
On supported Android devices, SanNova POS can connect to a paired Bluetooth Classic receipt printer when you choose to configure or use printing.
The application may access paired-device names, addresses or identifiers, connection state, and configured printer settings. Printer configuration is stored locally. When you print, receipt or test-page content is sent directly from your device to the selected printer over a Bluetooth RFCOMM connection.
SanNova does not receive this printer or receipt information. The Bluetooth connection is local and should not be treated as end-to-end encrypted by SanNova POS.
Bluetooth receipt printing is not currently provided by SanNova POS on iOS.
8. Receipt Export, Copy, and Sharing
SanNova POS can create receipt text, PDF, or image output locally. A receipt may contain shop details, receipt and transaction identifiers, date and time, cashier name, customer information, product names, quantities, prices, discounts, taxes, payment information, totals, and a configured footer.
When you copy, save, export, or share a receipt, you choose the destination. Information sent to another application, service, person, or storage provider is then subject to that recipient's practices. Clipboard content may be accessible to your operating system or other applications according to platform rules.
9. Backup and Restore
Backups are created only when you request them. Depending on the backup format, a backup may be an earlier JSON export or a .sannova archive containing database records, local account hashes, settings, printer configuration, and application-managed images.
Backup checksums help detect corruption but do not encrypt the backup. You are responsible for choosing a secure storage or sharing destination and for protecting backup files from unauthorized access.
Restoring a backup replaces the application's current local data after validation and logs out the current user.
10. Internet and Network Activity
Core POS operations do not require a SanNova cloud service. Network or off-device communication can occur through:
- Limited automatic technical information sent by Google ML Kit as described above
- External links that you choose to open, including the official website, legal pages, support pages, and Telegram community
- Receipts or backups that you choose to share or save using another application or service
- Local Bluetooth communication with a selected receipt printer on Android
SanNova POS does not currently provide cloud synchronization, remote business-data backup, online account hosting, advertising, or developer-operated analytics.
11. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
SanNova POS does not include its own user-behavior analytics, advertising network, marketing tracker, or developer-operated crash-reporting service. It does not display advertisements.
The limited Google ML Kit technical information described in Section 5 is associated with the barcode-scanning SDK and is not used by SanNova POS for advertising.
12. Sharing and External Recipients
Information may leave your device only in the following circumstances:
- Google may receive the limited ML Kit technical information described in Section 5.
- A recipient or service may receive information that you intentionally export, save, copy, or share.
- A selected Bluetooth printer may receive receipt or test-page content.
- An external website or application may receive ordinary connection information when you choose to open it.
Google states that ML Kit telemetry is encrypted in transit and handled under Google's terms and privacy policy. SanNova POS does not sell personal or business information.
13. Device Permissions
SanNova POS requests device access only for features that use it, including:
- Camera access for barcode scanning and optional image capture
- Photo-library or media access for selecting and saving images where required by the operating system
- Biometric authentication through the operating system when you enable it
- Bluetooth access on Android for discovering paired printers and printing
- File or document picker access when you import, export, back up, or restore data
- Clipboard and share-sheet access when you choose copy or share actions
SanNova POS does not provide a location-based feature and does not intentionally collect, store, or transmit your location information.
14. Security
SanNova POS uses safeguards appropriate to its local-first design, including local authentication, salted credential hashing, operating-system biometric authentication, application-private storage where supported, validation of imported backups, and platform permission controls.
The local SQLite database and exported backup files are not encrypted by SanNova POS at the application level. Device-level encryption and secure access controls provided by your operating system may offer additional protection.
No system is completely secure. You should protect your device, use strong credentials, limit access to exported files, and store backups only in trusted locations.
15. Data Retention and Deletion
Core data remains on your device until you edit or delete it, uninstall the application, restore another backup, or otherwise remove it through device or application controls.
Some records may be archived or deactivated rather than immediately removed when they are connected to historical transactions. Historical sales and receipt records may be retained to preserve business-record integrity. SanNova POS does not currently provide a single in-app action that deletes every category of local data at once.
Deleting an application-managed image removes the managed copy where supported. Exported receipts and backups remain wherever you saved or shared them, even after they are removed from SanNova POS. Uninstalling the application generally removes application-private data, subject to operating-system backup, restore, and storage behavior.
Retention of Google ML Kit technical information is controlled by Google, not by SanNova POS.
16. Children and Intended Audience
SanNova POS is a business application intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not designed for children and does not knowingly provide accounts or services directed to children.
17. Future Features
Future versions may introduce optional online features such as cloud backup, synchronization, remote account services, or other network-based functions. If those features change how information is handled, this Privacy Policy will be updated before or when the changes take effect, as appropriate.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect product changes, security improvements, legal requirements, or revised third-party practices. The latest official version is published at https://sannova-pos.web.app/privacy/.
